MESPAS Software Modules

Planned System Maintenance

MESPAS R5 provides for the seamless planning of assets maintenance, in the form of a system maintenance, work management and equipment scheduled maintenance software/module (including areas such human resource scheduling, spare parts stocking, and maintenance deadline oversight). Other module features include activity alerts, automation of maintenance document updates, configurable job cards, and correlation of supply dependencies. Both planned and one-time maintenance tasks for a ship can be configured in the office, as well as the vessel, thereby ensuring that daily tasks will be completed successfully for the vessel to run smoothly. Step-by-step guides will also be available in soft copy for the crew to follow when servicing and repairing ship equipment.

Procurement

The MESPAS procurement module is one of the largest trading platforms for vessel equipment, enabling straight-forward and fully-integrated procurement for parts and consumables. More than 2.5 million parts from thousands of suppliers are available for online procurement, allowing marine buyers to find preferred suppliers and marine suppliers in reaching out to a larger customer base. Having this module reduces the need to incur additional monthly subscription premiums for other marine supplies trading platform. In addition, procurement can be done on a fleet-wide basis, which eliminates extra ordering and administrative charges. Fleet-wide inventory management for tracking and purchasing inventory is modernized with improved user-friendliness and promotes cost effectiveness.

Stock Management

Spare parts accounting and inventory position assignment functions are included in the MESPAS R5’s suite of core functions, an inventory management software module, both at an individual ship level and across a fleet of vessels, enabling constant and complete control for a ship management company. This module can automatically update procurement activities and link budget figures fleet-wide. Other features include the tracking of critical parts and alerting for mandatory parts inventory stocking. In addition to optimizing maintenance and having better stock control, fleet managers are able to update inventory levels through MESPAS’s fleet-wide view of standard equipment and parts.

Quality, Health, Safety, Environment.

Quality, Heath, Safety and Environment processes are crucial standard operating procedures (SOP) in complying with the requirements of classification societies (DNV-GL) and maritime organisations such as the IMO, SOLAS. This MESPAS software module enables the planning and implementation of advanced quality management processes. This module includes audit trails, risk assessment, definition of risk mitigation measures, and incident reporting. Administrative workload associated with reporting, controlling operating procedures and improving quality practices are substantially reduced with the QHSE module, enhancing process efficiency fleet-wide.

Document Management and Form Manager

MESPAS R5, which includes a web-based document management software, supports continuous updating of more than 40,000 maintenance/product manuals via the centralized MESPAS database infrastructure. Paper documents are converted into electronic documents to ensure common operating procedures fleet-wide. Information, such as training manuals, OEM handbooks and various port clearance certificates are available to customers immediately after manufacturers update their materials and is configurable for incident reports, checklists, and other key areas of documentation. This reduces the administrative burden on ship management companies in ensuring their vessels have the necessary up-to-date compliance documents

Operations Monitoring

The MESPAS solution supports configurable monitoring of crucial processes and alerting mechanisms. All Key Performance Indicators are accessible via the dashboard. This module extends access beyond single installations and supports multiple assets as would be found in a maritime fleet.

Dashboards

MESPAS excels in data query, display, and monitoring of system/database information. This module combines with flexible alerting mechanisms and provides vital, real-time advisory information to system users and company managers.

Compliance

The MESPAS application drives compliance monitoring of internal guidelines and industry regulations. This module collects and reports the required asset management information and supports the reuse of MESPAS compliance reports (i.e. port authority or classification society reports for the shipping industry).

Task and Inspection Management

MESPAS’s functionality includes the tracking and scheduling of general tasks and unplanned one-time maintenance. This module allows for crew member duty assignment and the recording of fulfilment processes. Other features include pre-process equipment inspections and notification of corrective activities related to warranties, claims, and repairs. Scheduling and viewing all inspections on the vessel in 1 console is available, allowing technical superintendents to know what is going on in the vessel. Checklists will also be generated for the crew and the superintendent to expedite and simplify their inspection.

Budgeting and Invoice Management

The software enables assignment of financial measurements and metrics to assets or specific equipment. This module tracks activity directly affected by procurement and maintenance activities. Other features include online invoice management and electronic updates of company accounting systems.

Noon-Report

MESPAS’s advanced Planned Maintenance System supports scheduled and noon-report functions. Other features include reuse of the information already available and automatic transmission of reports to owners, charterers, and onshore staff, based on parameters defined by the client.

Multiple Platform Support

The MESPAS solution modules are available for various platforms including Windows-based computers, iOS, and Android mobile devices. Core system functions, dashboards, and reports are accessible via the Internet.

MAR-GE/T Floatable Terminal

The MAR-GE/T Floatable Terminal was designed primarily for Marine equipment monitoring, oil spill tracking, and current/drift studies. This terminal has an integrated GPS data logger, allowing it to report up to 96 accurate positions daily. Little maintenance is required as the device is simple and highly autonomous – it can last up to 250days. The beacon is waterproof and buoyant, allowing it to be spotted easily. The beacon is simple to install as no special tools are required and can be completed in less than 10 minutes. Operation is also simple as there are only 2 buttons and 1 LED light to indicate the status of the beacon. This terminal can also transmit a “request for assistance message” in addition to the normal positions. When the request is activated, the beacon transmits to the ARGOS system and the GPS position is logged every 15 minutes. Such help requests are directed to nearby fisheries offices to send out a rescue vessel. Similar to the rest of the products by CLS, there is full global coverage with the ARGOS satellite constellation, the brainchild of various international space agencies. Fredrik Marine recommends using the MAR-GE/T to secure unpowered floating units, which are mainly under the purview of port authorities or to monitor small traditional fishing boats.   Features High Autonomy*: > up to 450 days in operation, can last more than 5 years in storage Compatible with ArgosWeb Mapping interface for drifting monitoring Compatible with ARGOS Geofencing services (incl. alerts) Built-in GPS receiver for accurate positioning Extra ARGOS positioning (incl. speed and heading) LED indicator for operations control Battery options: rechargeable or disposable\ Extra ARGOS positioning (incl. speed and heading) LED Indicator for operations control Battery options: rechargeable or disposable Robust all-in-one design for marine environment Configurable GPS acquisitions & transmission rates, etc. *Autonomy of the units depends on the configuration, the environmental conditions and can be affected by ageing and maintenance quality.   Dimensions & Weight Diameter (max.) 134 mm Height 280 mm Weight 1.0 to 1.3 kg (depends on the battery type)   Shipping dimensions & Weight Diameter (max.) 134 mm Height 280 mm Weight 1.0 to 1.3 kg (depends on the battery type)   Technical Specifications Environmental specs. NAL9602 Discreet Vessel Tracking

The NAL-9602 is an ultra-low power consumption tracker designed for SBD data communication using the Iridium® satellite network. The beauty of the NAL9602 is that this transmitter looks identical to your average USB cable, allowing it to be hidden anywhere on board. The NAL 9602 utilises that Iridium satellite constellation to track your vessel and fleet, thereby ensuring global coverage. In the event of piracy attacks which are getting more and more commonplace, this discreet tracker allows ship managers and ship owners to know where their ship is at, reducing the time in locating the ship – excess time that might endanger the crew’s life.  The NAL9602 can be installed even without the crew knowing about it and ship managers will know if there are abnormal deviations from the planned voyage route. Model 9602-LP can send either standard or 256-bit AES-encrypted GPS reports at a pre-programmed interval ranging from once every four seconds to once every seven days. The interval can be changed remotely while the unit is in the field. As for power, an input voltage between 5 and 33 volts is all that is required. Although it is recommended to install the antenna in clear view of the sky, it can also be installed in a fibreglass boat. This installation needs to be tested before being approved.   Features Internal Motion Sensor 2 RS232 level I/Os for sensor interfaces 7 TTL/CMOS level I/Os for sensor interfaces GPS Sensitivity of –160dBm Standby current of less than 65µA Wide input voltage range from 5V to 32V Internal Motion Sensor Two (2) RS232 level I/Os for sensor interfaces Seven (7) TTL/CMOS level I/Os for sensor interfaces GPS Sensitivity of –160dBm Programmed for either Commercial or DoD Gateway Supports NAL Research and PECOS formats AES 256-bit encryption for both transmission and receiving 2 way communications Real-time reporting   Advantage Discreet ship and vessel tracking solution Global coverage Affordable Improve crew safety   Dimensions & Weight Length 69mm (2.73”) Breadth 55mm (2.17”) Height 24mm (0.94”) Weight 136g (4.8oz) Shipping dimensions & Weight Input Voltage 3.6V to 5.5V or 6.5V to 32V Avg Current (Report) 200mA @ 5V Input (Sleep) < 65µA @ 5V Input Operating Temp –40°C to +85°C (–40°F to +185°F) Operating Humidity < 75% RH Iridium Frequency 1616.0 to 1626.5 MHz GPS Frequency 1575.42Hz (L1 carrier)
